About Sherry Oliver
I grew up in south central Michigan, mostly country girl. I loved animals, nature, and talked to God as I walked through woods and fields. My love of art began young, encouraged by my mother, who is also an artist and photographer. Jr and Sr High were wonderful places of encouragement for me in art, photography and writing with teachers who gave me freedom to create. I am amazed now as I look back -- freedom and materials -- how blessed I was.
In 1971 my family and I moved to Idaho and lived there for over 20 years. Idaho's beautiful mountains and deserts still inspire me. In my young adult years I enjoyed being part of an art guild in Wendell, Idaho.
In 1995 we moved to Madison, WI where I spent my first 13 years in Madison in outreach to the poor and homeless. A most adventurous part of these years was my many trips to India -- I love the people and the country and enjoy sharing God's love and healing wherever I go. Art, for me, is a time and place of focus and letting out what is inside or finding, even discovering the hidden parts of myself as I connect and let the Spirit flow through me as I paint, draw or snap a photo. I hope perhaps you'll find a touchpoint in yourself as you view my works.
