Description
I was fascinated to learn that the families in this village in Andhra Pradesh lived in homes with no walls. The thick roofs of palm leaves provided effective shelter from the sun and the breezes could blow freely through keeping the family cook in hot weather. During the rainy season, as when I visited, the roofs dripped occasionally, the floors became anywhere from damp to muddy depending on the winds. Until about 2000 the people still wore little or no clothing. Amazing how varied our world can be. The people were just lovely, warm and welcoming. Several of the huts had electric lights even though they had no walls.
