I love the wild canaries that frequent my backyard birdfeeder and wanted to experiment with painting them. The out of focus background was a nice challenge with the bright flowers and bird in front.
I grew up in south central Michigan, mostly country girl. I loved animals, nature, and talked to God as I walked through woods and fields. My love of art began young, encouraged by my mother, who is also an artist and photographer. Jr and Sr High were wonderful places of encouragement for me in art,photography and writing with teachers who gave me freedom to create. I am amazed now as I look back -- freedom and materials -- how blessed I was. In 1971 my family and I moved to Idaho and lived there for over 20 years. Idaho's beautiful mountains and deserts still inspire me. I enjoyed being part of the guild in Wendell, Idaho.
